The hardness tester operates using the Leeb rebound method. This is a dynamic hardness testing method in which a standardised indenter, usually a carbide ball, is struck against a test surface with a defined impact energy. The hardness tester is supplied as standard with an impact device D, but additional impact bodies (DC, DL, C, D+15, E, G) can also be connected as an option for more specialised applications.

Description

The hardness tester operates using the Leeb rebound method. This is a dynamic hardness testing method in which a standardised indenter, usually a carbide ball, is struck against a test surface with a defined impact energy. The impact of the carbide ball on the test surface results in plastic deformation of the surface at the point of impact. This deformation results in an energy loss which is proportional to the workpiece hardness and can be determined from the ratio of the test specimen’s rebound velocity to its impact velocity.

This technology enables a compact design, making it particularly suitable for hardness testing equipment. In contrast to static testing methods using heavy hardness testing machines, a mobile hardness tester be used very flexibly in incoming or outgoing goods inspection, in production and generally in all areas where hardness influences quality parameters. The hardness tester can measure six different hardness scales (HL, HV, HRA, HRC, HB, HV, HS) as well as ten different materials.

The hardness tester is supplied as standard with an impact device D, but additional impact bodies (DC, DL, C, D+15, E, G) can be connected for more specialised applications. Furthermore, data can be saved directly to a USB stick, which further enhances the flexibility of this portable hardness tester. Thanks to a highly legible OLED display, a long standby time, a compact housing and a symbol-based menu navigation, the mobile hardness tester is exceptionally user-friendly.
